Overview
Noma is the Christmas Lighting private label brand exclusive to Canadian Tire. The clip light was designed to make mounting and positioning Christmas lights easier. Difficulty mounting Christmas lights has been identified as a number one pain point in the outdoor décor category. The shape of the clip is specifically designed to suit a range of objects from rain gutters to evergreen branches by easily wrapping and holding onto rails. This product has become a top seller in the lighting category and helps to drive Christmas traffic into the store.

Problem
Canadian Tire wanted to re-think and innovate the category of outdoor Christmas lighting. Canadian Tire has existing leadership in this area and offering unique products helps to drive traffic in during the high-buying holiday season.
Solution
String lights were identified as a key configuration to focus innovation. Our research determined that hangining and mounting lights was awkward and is sometimes considered a safety hazzard due to the currently ineffective holding solutions. Our solution was a smart clip with specific geometry and an articulating connection to angle the lights appropriately.
Results
This product has become a top seller in the lighting category and helps to drive Christmas traffic into the store. Year over year sales have increased since launch in 2013. There has also been a national commercial showcasing this product to the Canadian public.
