Context
Defining the Opportunity
How to support financial literacy learning in youth and build a strong foundation for their financial success? Swave was tasked with creating a digital experience that promotes a healthy financial mindset while simultaneously developing the brand and system for the app. Swave Studios is the founding design partner of Fiscally.
A Wealth of Knowledge
We discovered that financial literacy programs are out of reach for many youth leaving them unprepared for adulthood. Existing solutions lack a holistic approach to financial literacy in terms of subject matter and learning experiences.
User Insights
Deep Dive into Financial Literacy
To gain insights we studied the competitive landscape and conducted journey mapping, research and analysis. We explored other learning platforms and conducted extensive user experience research in banking UX design. Throughout course development we held test sessions with youth and their parents to gather feedback on the course structure.

Design Process
Finding a Balance
Design System, Branding, UX/UI: With a cool and sophisticated brand palette we focused on creating a design system that resonated with youth. We designed the experience around short video lessons following the storyline of Ben and Rachel. Bespoke animated videos were created to depict Ben and Rachel's financial literacy journey. These videos will be delivered in-app allowing students to earn achievements as they progress through the course.
Content Building and Animation: We developed a course curriculum and framework that include a structured syllabus, animated lessons and quizzes. These elements were designed to convey the essence of financial literacy in an engaging and interactive manner resonating with young learners. We established a central framework of Earn, Spend, Save, Share and Invest delivering lessons in each category
Practical Tools: Based on user feedback it was clear that practical tools that put the learning into practice were important for both parents and the kids. Starting with budgeting and expense features the team developed a range of tools that can be rolled out over time.

The Result
A Holistic Learning Experience
Fiscally is a financial literacy learning platform that encourages healthy financial habits for young people. The first course provides a foundational money learning experience covering the Earn, Spend, Save, Share, and Invest framework. Students have access to lessons and tools to build financial confidence.
Parents can also engage with Fiscally through their own dashboard to stay connected to their child's learning and help reinforce the lessons.
